Game (I Hunt Killers, #2) by Barry Lyga

Billy grinned. “Oh, New York,” he whispered. “We’re gonna have so much fun.”

I Hunt Killers introduced the world to Jazz, the son of history’s most infamous serial killer, Billy Dent.

In an effort to prove murder didn’t run in the family, Jazz teamed with the police in the small town of Lobo’s Nod to solve a deadly case. And now, when a determined New York City detective comes knocking on Jazz’s door asking for help, he can’t say no. The Hat-Dog Killer has the Big Apple–and its police force–running scared. So Jazz and his girlfriend, Connie, hop on a plane to the big city and get swept up in a killer’s murderous game.

Games World is an entertainment video games show that was broadcast on Sky One each weekday from — The overall concept of Games World was similar to GamesMaster. The main body of the show took place on Mondays and Wednesdays, and was an elimination contest between several youngsters over several different video games, where winners would go on to Friday's edition. Every Friday, a single winner from the previous day staked points on various matches at differing games, and would go up against various cartoonish characters known as "Videators". Winners received a Games World bomber jacket, whilst the overall series winner would receive an arcade machine. The original show also had different formats during the week, called The Peep Parlour , which was a computer-designed peep-parlour where videogamers would ask for advice from "The Games Mistress" related to their video game playing queries, and featured Diane Youdale , better known as Jet from Gladiators, and a selection of other characters.

Exclusive Interview by Peter Ward

It is an honour to speak to one of the gaming TV Legends. That said, my day job is in video games, an industry which continues to serve me well and one which I love. I was actually on episode two of the show I think, playing Sonic the Hedgehog on the megadrive. When the show was gearing up for production, the producers were having huge problems getting audience members let alone contestants. No one had heard of the show before and it was filming in the middle of the city right at the start of term time. They advertised free tickets to watch the filming of the show on teletext look it up kids! Me and some buddies called the hotline to blag some tickets and the researcher mentioned they needed contestants for the show who were good at games.

You became a huge hit as a Videator and co-commentator on Games World — how exactly did you get the opportunity to work on this great show? We jumped at the chance. Sadly, this was a new show being shot in term time, no one had heard of it before and when we called the hotline to enquire about audience tickets, they asked us if we knew of anyone with video game skills to audition as a contestant! Marty appeared on the series later in the run but I showed up on the second episode of the series battling for a Golden Joystick on Sonic the Hedgehog. I won and the producers remembered my cocky bravado and called me randomly a year later saying they were working on a Sky One spinoff show called Games Zone later becoming Games World.
