Everything, Everything by Nicola YoonMy disease is as rare as it is famous. Itís a form of Severe Combined Immunodeficiency, but basically, Iím allergic to the world. I donít leave my house, have not left my house in fifteen years. The only people I ever see are my mom and my nurse, Carla.
But then one day, a moving truck arrives. New next door neighbors. I look out the window, and I see him. Heís tall, lean and wearing all blackóblack t-shirt, black jeans, black sneakers and a black knit cap that covers his hair completely. He catches me looking and stares at me. I stare right back. His name is Olly. I want to learn everything about him, and I do. I learn that he is funny and fierce. I learn that his eyes are Atlantic Ocean-blue and that his vice is stealing silverware. I learn that when I talk to him, my whole world opens up, and I feel myself starting to changeóstarting to want things. To want out of my bubble. To want everything, everything the world has to offer.
Maybe we canít predict the future, but we can predict some things. For example, I am certainly going to fall in love with Olly. Itís almost certainly going to be a disaster.
Everything, Everything: Movie Review
A teenager girl Amanda Sternberg who' has a rare immune disorder has lived an isolated life for her own protection. Perhaps that is part of what makes the new boy next door Nick Robinson look so attractive. Why is Everything, Everything rated PG? Run Time: 97 minutes. Maddy Whittier Amandla Stenberg is a young woman with SCID severe combined immunodeficiency , a medical condition that renders her body unable to fight off any infections. Although the illness means she must live in isolation in order to avoid contact with germs or viruses, she still enjoys stimulation through books and the internet. A teenage girl Amandla Stenberg has spent her whole life in her home and away from anything that could make her sick and potentially kill her by overtaxing her fragile immune system. Although longing to go outside, she is content until a new neighbor Nick Robinson inspires her to want to experience everything that she has been missing. Directed by Stella Meghie. A teen boy and a teen girl kiss. A teen boy and a teen girl kiss several times in several scenes. A teen girl imagines kissing a teen boy. A teen boy and a teen girl touch hands with a pane of glass between them.
This teen romance has the typical elements: some flirting, some kissing, an implied sex scene, and a girl lying to her mother about her feelings for the boy; some infrequent cursing and a joke about teen pregnancy; the mention of relatives who passed away in a car crash and a few scary hospital scenes; an abusive parent and a fistfight between a father and son; and an emotional subplot that involves parental deceit. The film takes a few narrative shortcuts, but its youth romance is fantastically adorable and undeniably charming. To shrug away these films because of their young characters would be a superficial mistake. The air could kill her, or the trees, or the common cold. Truthfully, Stenberg and Robinson are adorable togetheróit is literally impossible not to grin in glee when they kiss for the first timeóbut their characters are each flattened in ways that will be disappointing for book readers.
